About Me

I’m Cameron Li, a student at Milton Academy with a constant curiosity for ways to create, explore, and understand the world around me. Visual art, photography, and the cello have each become different outlets for that curiosity. From creating digital artwork to spending years performing music, making things has always been one of the ways I process ideas and engage with the world around me.

I also care deeply about community and connection. Through volunteering, community projects, and working with non-profits, I’ve found that some of the most meaningful experiences come from using what I know to help someone else.

Outside of school and projects, I enjoy fishing, cooking, watching sports, spending time with friends and family, and exploring whatever comes my way. These interests may seem unrelated, but each gives me another way to stay curious, challenge myself, and experience something new.

Loop Animation in Adobe Photoshop

The looping animation depicts a hand drawing with a pencil, lifting it from the page, and returning to draw again. The continuous cycle explores repetition and the seemingly endless process of creating and recreating.

Written in Time

Digital design in Adobe Illustrator; inscribed on clay

A custom typeface inspired by ancient writing systems, designed digitally in Adobe Illustrator and then translated into a physical clay tablet. The accompanying photograph places the tablet among pine needles, connecting the ancient-looking inscription with the natural process of decay and the passage of time.

Created using a range of Photoshop tools to explore texture, detail, and lighting. The piece focuses particularly on rendering glass, the porous textures of oranges and lemons, the glossy surfaces of grapes, and the way light interacts with transparent surfaces and surrounding objects.

Abstract composition in Adobe Illustrator

Derived from twelve cropped sections of the original still-life digital painting, this piece reimagines familiar objects through abstract arrangements of texture and form. By isolating and recombining small details, the composition transforms the original still life into a visually distinct work.

Three boxes each contain four overlapping squares, creating contrasting black-and-white forms. Each square represents a different adjective—order, congestion, and chaos—with the composition progressing from one state to the next. The spaces connecting the boxes visually carry this transformation, creating a continuous narrative across the piece.

"Dirty Water"

Digital illustration in Adobe Photoshop

Inspired by ancient Mayan art and the work of Keith Haring, Dirty Water pays tribute to Boston and its inseparable sports culture. The piece combines iconic Boston landmarks, larger-than-life athletes, and an extensive crowd to explore the idolization of athletes and the larger-than-life role sports play in Bostonian identity.

Photography

I have always loved photography, and it's probably because it gives me a reason to slow down and pay attention to the details of my surroundings—people, places, or moments I might otherwise pass by.

Cello

I have been playing the cello for over 10 years, with experience performing in orchestras, quartets, and duets. Over the years, I have performed a wide range of music—from Bach's Cello Suite No. 1 in G Major to music from La La Land—and learned to approach the cello both as an individual instrument and as part of an ensemble. Playing in different group settings has taught me to listen closely, adapt to others, and contribute to a shared musical expression. Beyond performing, the cello has remained a consistent creative outlet and a part of my life for more than a decade.

Volunteering

Scam Awareness Workshops

Throughout the summer, I designed and led interactive scam awareness workshops for migrant domestic workers in Hong Kong, including sessions hosted at the Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong. The workshops focused on recognizing common scams, identifying red flags, and learning practical steps to protect personal information and finances. Through real-world scenarios and small-group activities, participants practiced identifying suspicious messages and discussing how to respond if they encountered a scam.

Senior Home Volunteering

During the school year, I volunteer weekly at Hebrew SeniorLife, a local senior home. Primarily, I provide technology support and assistance with everyday digital tasks, helping residents navigate devices, troubleshoot technology, and build confidence using digital tools. Over three years, however, the experience has become about much more than technology. By returning each week, I have built meaningful, lasting relationships with many of the residents and staff. Our conversations often extend well beyond the task at hand, and I have come to know residents’ stories, interests, and personalities.

Digital Marketing Volunteer

I volunteered with Helping Hand Hong Kong, a nonprofit organization supporting elderly care and senior living in Hong Kong, managing social media content and creating digital materials to promote its programs and initiatives. I also volunteer with the Massachusetts Oyster Project, an environmental nonprofit focused on restoring oyster reefs and educating communities about marine ecosystems. My work includes developing branding, custom icons, and merchandise designs. Across both organizations, I use design and communication to help strengthen their public presence and connect their work with broader communities.
